Why am I seeing streaks or residue on my windshield?

Anti Frost is formulated to wipe clear and streak free, and the vast majority of customers experience clean, residue free performance. In rare cases, streaking can occur due to conditions that vary from vehicle to vehicle, even when the dilution ratio is correct.
Residual washer fluid already in the system
Even a small amount left in the reservoir or lines from a previous washer fluid can temporarily affect how Anti Frost behaves until it fully cycles out.
Mixing concentrates or adding additional cleaners
Anti Frost already contains detergents and conditioners. Adding any additional washer fluid concentrate can make the solution too strong and cause smearing.
Water used for mixing
Anti Frost is designed to mix best with normal tap water. Very soft water, distilled water, reverse osmosis water, or softened well water can reduce the film breaking action and lead to streaking.
Existing film on the windshield
Invisible residue from dealership fluids, automatic car wash waxes, silicone overspray, or road grime can cause any washer fluid to smear. Anti Frost can loosen that film, making it visible during the first few uses.
Washer system design
Some vehicles use low-volume or blade-integrated washer nozzles, which provide less rinsing action and can make any washer fluid more prone to smearing until the glass is fully cleaned.
Helpful reminder
If streaking persists after correct mixing and flushing, a manual glass cleaning (and wiping the wiper blades) usually resolves it.

Can I mix Anti Frost with Kristall Klar?

No. While both products are compatible with your washer system, they are not intended to be mixed together in the same reservoir. Anti Frost already contains cleaning agents, and adding Kristall Klar can increase detergent concentration and lead to residue or streaking.
Use only one washer fluid formula per fill.

What should I do if I experience streaking?

Run the washer system until the reservoir is nearly empty
Refill with a fresh batch of Anti Frost mixed according to the chart
Use regular tap water for mixing
Clean the windshield with a proper glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol
Wipe the wiper blades with a damp cloth
In most cases, this resolves the issue quickly.

Is this a defect in the product?

No. Anti Frost is produced to strict specifications and is used by thousands of drivers without issue. When streaking occurs, it is almost always related to mixing, water type, washer system design, or existing residue on the glass rather than a problem with the formula itself.

Can Anti Frost leave residue on paint?

When used normally, Anti Frost should not leave residue on glass or paint. If residue is visible on paint, it is typically the result of detergent concentration being too high or contamination already present on the surface.

Mixing Instructions

Please use the following mixing ratios based on the level of freeze protection you need. Consider any existing summer windshield washer fluid currently in your washer fluid tank if you do not intend to drain it first when determining your mixing ratio. While compatible with all brands of washer fluids, we recommend you drain your washer fluid tank first for the most accurate Anti-Frost washer fluid mix.

Most washer fluid tanks are 1 - 1.5 gallons (3.8-5.7 liters) in size. Please contact your dealership for exact capacity.
